The Leonid meteor shower is set to dazzle stargazers this weekend as it sends bright lights shooting across the night sky. It is one of the best opportunities of the year for people to admire passing meteors.

An annual meteor shower known for its fast movement and explosions of color that persist longer than average will peak this weekend, though experts say the shower’s peak won’t reach a maximum until just before the next century.

While the Southern Taurids already hit their peak last week, the Northern Taurids, active Oct. 13-Dec. 2 will be at their best Monday and Tuesday.
