Andhra Pradesh's Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has embarked on an 11-day penance ritual following the controversy surrounding the alleged use of animal fat in the Tirumala laddu prasadam. He expressed his regret for not detecting the issue earlier and called the incident a "stain on the Hindu race.

Making the announcement on X (formally twitter), the Andhra Pradesh deputy CM said that the inability to detect the alleged adulteration of Tirumala Laddu Prasadam is a “stain on the Hindu race.”

Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu accused the previous government of using substandard ingredients, including animal fat, in Tirupati laddus, sparking a political debate.

On Tirupati Laddu Prasadam row, Andhra Pradesh Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan says, "...The quality of prasad is always quite superior and if you get even a small byte, it is like a mahaprasad to everybody. It was done with great reverence.

In a veiled dig at former CM Jagan Mohan Reddy, Pawan Kalyan said those who indulge in such ‘crimes’ have “no faith in God and no fear” of such acts.

Pawan Kalyan voiced concerns over alleged adulteration of the sacred Tirupati laddus, claiming the ghee contained animal fats, including fish oil, pork fat, and beef fat.

The controversy surrounding the ghee used in making laddoos at Andhra Pradesh's Tirupati Temple has escalated into a public spat between actor-politician Pawan Kalyan and actor Prakash Raj.
