Israel has launched air strikes in Lebanon and is restricting gatherings in the city of Haifa and other northern areas as it continues to attack targets linked to Hezbollah. White House national security spokesman John Kirby stated he was not aware of any advance notice from Israel to the U.S. regarding the strikes in Beirut. He urged Americans to avoid travel to Lebanon or leave if already there.

An Israeli airstrike in Beirut killed at least 14 people and wounded dozens more, Lebanese health officials said. It was the first such Israeli attack on Lebanon’s capital in months and came shortly after Hezbollah pounded northern Israel with 140 rockets.
