Gov. Tony Evers’ University of Wisconsin System $800 million budget increase proposal would be the largest increase in the system’s history if approved.

Madison campus Wednesday to make a pitch to increase funding for state colleges and universities in the next budget. The proposed 2025-2027 budget plan will include an $850 million increase in state funding.

Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers will propose an $800 million increase in funding for the University of Wisconsin system in the upcoming budget, what his staff says is the largest biennial budget increase in the history of the system.

Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers stopped at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay on Tuesday as part of his Back-to-School Tour. The stop began with his tour of the University Union, where he met with faculty members to learn about the new Cofrin Technology & Education Center and the Phoenix Innovation Park.

Evers said Wisconsin ranks 42nd in the nation for public funding. He believes this is an embarrassment and hopes to get that rank closer to the 20s.
