OXFORD, Miss. (WTVA) — A Lafayette County circuit court judge declared a missing Ole Miss student dead. The parents of Jimmie “Jay” Lee filed a request with the court in September, and court documents show the judge granted their request. Lee disappeared in July 2022 in Oxford. He’s had no communication with his parents since then.

Missing Ole Miss student declared legally dead
A Lafayette County judge has declared Ole Miss student Jimmie "Jay" Lee legally dead. Jimmie "Jay" Lee, 20, was last seen July 8, 2022 leaving an apartment complex in Oxford. Sheldon Timothy Herrington Jr., 22, of Grenada, was arrested less than a month after Lee's disappearance. Herrington is awaiting trial on a capital murder charge.
